Art at Waimea
Country School
Art is taught by individual classroom
teachers, with guest artists brought in whenever possible
and appropriate. Art is largely integrated into academic
assignments and activities, however there is also direct
instruction in art techniques in each Level.
For example, students in the Level
4 class study different cultures in their year-long
Around the World Project, which includes viewing artwork
and experimenting with art techniques from world cultures.
Students in all Levels participate
in art contests throughout the year, including Recycle
Hawaii's Recycled Art Contest, the Hawaii State Library
System Book Poster Contest, and the annual Kahilu Theatre
Art Show. |
