Application for admission to Waimea
Country School has four components:
The completed Student Application Form. Parents fill out this form. The first part asks for general family contact information; the second part poses a series of questions. Your thoughtful response to these questions will help us get to know your child better, understand your family’s educational goals, and ensure that the decisions of the Admissions Committee are made with as much pertinent information as possible.
Student Application Form
The completed Teacher Comment Form. This form is filled out by a previous teacher or child-care provider and asks some of the same questions that are asked of parents in the Student Application Form. We find that the input provided by teachers or others who know the child in a learning context is very helpful. This form is required for admissions consideration.
Teacher Comment Form
The completed Letter of Recommendation. This form should be filled out by someone who knows the child in many different contexts. Relatives, your minister, and close family friends are ideally suited to complete this form if they are able to authentically describe the child’s character and special gifts.
Letter of Recommendation
The signed Release of School Information Form. Parents must sign the Release of School Information Form and submit it to their child’s current or last school. With your signature, this form allows your child’s school to release your child’s transcripts and other relevant information to us. This form should not be returned to us; it needs to be sent directly to your child’s current school.
Release of School Information Form
Admissions applications will not be considered until this completed packet is received at the School Office. Applications are considered on a first come, first served basis that is determined by submission date of a completed packet.
All of the above should be mailed to:

Admissions Decisions
Waimea Country School does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national and ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or physical appearance. Within the legal stricture of our non-discrimination policy, there are two reasons why a child may not be offered enrollment when space is available:
- We do not employ specialists to serve students with exceptional learning needs. Although our teachers do an excellent job of meeting the needs of a diverse student population, we reserve the right to determine when an applicant child would be better served in another setting where specialized services are offered. Examples of specialized services include, but are not limited to, speech and language services, intensive behavioral supports, physical therapy, and other specific learning intervention.
- Because we emphasize cooperative interaction between students and teachers, we may chose not to offer admission to children with significant emotional and behavioral issues that could prevent them from following a set of basic rules for positive interaction within a reasonable amount of time.
All admission decisions are “need blind,” and student applicants are never offered or denied admission because of financial factors. We are careful to observe strict confidentiality during all phases of the admission process.
